Bruce G. Schaeffer, age 84, of Janesville, WI was called to be with Jesus, his Lord on July 26, 2016. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 7, 1932, the son of Oliver C. and Hilda B. (Platz) Schaeffer. Bruce was a member of the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and served in Korea. He married Virginia Javenkoski, his high school sweetheart, on November 8, 1952 in the post chapel at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Bruce was employed as a sales representative by Prudential Insurance Company until retiring in 1987. Following retirement, the Schaeffer’s resided in Pocahontas, AR until returning to Janesville in 2002. Bruce was a past commander of the American Legion and a past president of the Wisconsin Association of Life Underwriters.
Bruce Schaeffer is survived by his wife Virginia, three children, Greg (Diane), Gwen, Lisa, grandchildren; Kristi, Tricia, Stacey, Troy, Alysha, Neil, great-grandchildren; Daniel, Grace, Jacob, Clara, Connor, Addi, Abel, Luella and one brother, Don (Helen) Schaeffer..
A memorial service in celebration of Bruce’s life will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 2 p.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME 1010 N. Wright Rd. Janesville. Rev. Janice Diefenthaler will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, August 4th at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
